TROPICAL STORM BETA IN GULF; CLOUDS & RAIN LOCALLY TODAY… Tropical Storm Beta continues to organize in the west-central Gulf of Mexico today. A Hurricane Watch is now in effect for parts of the Texas coastline as Beta is expected to meander just offshore from Texas in 4-5 days. Beyond that, some of the remnant moisture from Beta could move our way by the end of the upcoming week. Significant impacts from Beta are not expected at this time for south Alabama or northwest Florida. Locally, we’ll have clouds and rain around at times today. Severe weather is not expected, but I can’t completely rule out some thunder along the way. High temperatures will be around 80 today.
HIGH TEMPS IN 70S IN DAYS AHEAD… Our weather pattern will remain cloudy and mild in the days ahead, thanks in part due to Tropical Storm Beta to our southwest. The storm will usher in plenty of cloud cover that will ultimately come to an end by the end of the upcoming week. High temperatures will be in the 70s in the days ahead with overnight lows in the upper-50s inland and low-60s closer to the coast.
TEDDY TO MOVE BY BERMUDA BEFORE LANDFALL IN CANADA… Hurricane Teddy remains a major hurricane today over the north-central Atlantic. Teddy will pass just to the east of Bermuda. This won’t be a direct hit for Bermuda unlike what happened with Hurricane Paulette several days ago, but the island could have direct effects from Teddy. The storm will race northward toward Nova Scotia, followed by a northeasterly turn into Newfoundland in about 5 days. Teddy could be significant issue for the Canadian maritime areas.
WILFRED REMAINS WEAK… Tropical Storm Wilfred is located about halfway between Africa and the Lesser Antilles. The official NHC forecast calls for Wilfred to remain weak and ultimately dissipate by Wednesday over the open ocean. No direct land impacts are expected because of Wilfred.

Rain will be possible at times on this Saturday across south Alabama and northwest Florida. Looks like an overall dreary kind of day for much of the region. pic.twitter.com/33bftfS2LW

Magnitude 4.8 #earthquake just happened in the middle of the Los Angeles metro area as of 11:39PM Pacific Time… Talking with a friend there who says he felt significant shaking for a few seconds. pic.twitter.com/E3strVgOpF
