MUCH COOLER WEEKEND AHEAD… High temperatures will drop to near 75° by Sunday as cooler, drier air takes hold of our weather pattern through the early part of next week. Overnight lows are set to drop into the 50s across inland areas of south Alabama by Monday morning. Clouds will hang tough across the region today into Friday and Saturday with a chance of showers and perhaps a storm or two.

90% CHANCE OF DEVELOPMENT IN GULF… We are monitoring a developing area of low pressure in the southwestern Gulf. This area of low pressure has a 90% chance of becoming a tropical storm as it meanders around the southwestern Gulf over the next day or two. Early model guidance has been… challenging to say the least. There are some models that show the system moving west into Texas or Mexico while other models show the developing storm moving north or northeast, perhaps toward Louisiana. This is a feature we will begin focusing on more later today into tonight.

SALLY WEAKENS TO TROPICAL DEPRESSION STATUS… The final advisory has been issued by the National Hurricane Center on Tropical Depression Sally, located over southeast Alabama. The remnants of Sally will continue to move northeast toward the Carolinas today.

HURRICANE TEDDY IN THE ATLANTIC… Hurricane Teddy is a category 2 hurricane today located several hundred miles east of the northern Leeward Islands. It appears Teddy may take a very similar track to Hurricane Paulette and be a potentially significant issue for Bermuda later this week. After a potential strike on Bermuda, Teddy will rapidly move north across the northern Atlantic. Direct local impacts in Alabama or northwest Florida are not expected.

TROPICAL STORM VICKY… Vicky remains a weak, but persistent, tropical storm in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. The storm is expected to become a tropical depression later today and ultimately fade away in the days ahead. No land issues likely.
