ALL CLEAR FROM HURRICANE SALLY: IMMEDIATE RISKS HAVE ENDED… The only time we celebrate concerning hurricanes is when one is over. All of southwest Alabama and northwest Florida have now reached that point and we can safely give an ALL CLEAR to all of our local counties. The tornado risk is over, the risk of high winds has ended, the risk of heavy rain and flash flooding is over. Sally is now a tropical storm centered over parts of Coffee County in southeast Alabama this evening. The storm continues to gradually gain forward speed and move northeast. Sally will clear out of Alabama entirely by 4AM. There will be an ongoing risk of river and creek flooding through the upcoming weekend. In addition, dangerous rip currents and high waves will continue over the next day or so at local beaches.

COUNTIES IN THE ALL CLEAR ZONE… If you are in any of the following counties in Alabama, you get an all clear from Hurricane Sally: Escambia, Covington, Conecuh, Butler, Crenshaw, Monroe, Clarke, Washington, Mobile, and Baldwin. If you are in any of the following northwest Florida counties, you also get an all clear this evening: Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa, and Walton. Go to bed in peace tonight and don’t be concerned about our local weather.

COOLER WEATHER COMING… Yep, it’s true! We get a cooler round of temperatures for the weekend and into early next week. High temperatures will drop into the upper-70s with lows expected to be in the upper-50s.
