ALL CLEAR: ETA PASSING WELL TO OUR EAST… Tropical Storm Eta will make landfall along the western Gulf Coast of Florida near or north of Tampa in the hours ahead, meaning significant local impacts in south Alabama and northwest Florida conclusively will not happen. ALL CLEAR from Tropical Storm Eta for our local area. Eta will be remembered locally as the system that just would not go away. The storm, at one time last week, ended up being the strongest hurricane of the hyperactive 2020 season. Please be advised that dangerous rip currents and high waves will continue at local beaches for the next few days due to exiting Eta. Eta is being pulled north by an upper-level trough that will continue to drive the system into the Florida Peninsula (not the Panhandle locally, but the Peninsula well to our east).

ONGOING SHOWERS & STORMS LOCALLY… Scattered showers and a few thunderstorms will continue across south Alabama and northwest Florida over the next few hours. Severe weather is not expected this evening or overnight. The rain locally is due, in part, to a frontal boundary nearby and in part to the moisture being thrown into the atmosphere around Tropical Storm Eta.

DRIER DAYS AHEAD… Our 7 Day Forecast has changed considerably with the news that Eta will be well to our east. Rain chances have been taken out of the forecast for tomorrow, Friday, and Saturday. Clouds will clear out on Thursday afternoon and Friday looks to be sunny, dry, and mild.

My next forecast video will be posted by 7:15AM on Thursday. Until then, sleep easier tonight knowing Eta won’t be a big deal for our local area.
