SUNNY TUESDAY; INCREASING TEMPS LATER THIS WEEK… Sunny and cool conditions will continue on this Tuesday. High temperatures will be in the upper-50s this afternoon ahead of slightly warmer temperatures in the days ahead. By Friday, most locales will be knocking on the door of 70 degrees in the afternoon and evening hours. Dry conditions are likely to continue through Friday ahead of increased rain chances this weekend as a cold front approaches from the northwest. Isolated strong to severe thunderstorms may become a concern this weekend as this frontal system passes by our region, although details remain fairly murky at this time. Let’s look at all of your Tuesday forecast details.
SUNNY THRU THURSDAY; PASSING CLOUDS BY FRIDAY… The next 3 days will be remarkably quiet in the world of weather across south Alabama and northwest Florida. Sunny skies are in the forecast each day through Thursday with clear nights. Highs will progressively increase each day through the end of the week. Overnight lows will be in the 30s again tonight, but lows in the 40s are likely tomorrow night and on Thursday night.
SHOWERS & STORMS LIKELY ON SATURDAY INTO SUNDAY… Rain and storms will become possible this weekend as a frontal boundary approaches our area from the northwest. While there could be some scenarios in which severe weather becomes a possibility, it is too early to know for sure that severe weather issues will happen. Right now, the most plausible scenario is that our area will have a low-end risk of a few strong to marginally severe storms. We will continue to monitor the data over the next few days and bring you the latest in the RedZone Weather app.
SECOND HALF OF DECEMBER MAY BE WARMER… Long-time viewers and readers know that I do not put much stock (at all) into long range forecast solutions. The accuracy and precision simply isn’t good, to say the absolute least past the 7 day mark. With that in mind, the long range guidance has been QUITE consistent as of late suggesting the potential for the second half of December to be quite a bit warmer than our cold start to this month. We note the Climate Prediction Center continues to suggest in their longer range forecasts of an above-average chance of warmer conditions to end the month. We’ll be watching trends over the next several weeks.
