RAIN AT TIMES TODAY INTO SATURDAY; COOL TEMPS INTO NEXT WEEK… Rain is likely at times today into Saturday. This will be a cold, quite miserable rain with highs only in the 50s this afternoon and again on Saturday. Temperatures will not get cold enough tonight to support any mixed precipitation or snow, thus this will simply be a cold rain event. Drier conditions are ahead for the second half of the weekend into Monday before another round of rain sets up in the middle part of the upcoming week. We note that while some models have suggested the potential for some winter mischief in parts of the Deep South late next week, for now, it seems like rain will be likely in our local area and not snow or mixed precipitation. See all of your Friday forecast details below.

HEAVY RAIN POSSIBLE AT TIMES THIS EVENING… Scattered showers this morning are expected to increase in coverage over the next several hours. Rain could be heavy at times this afternoon into this evening. Severe weather continues seem quite unlikely today as there is not any surface-based instability to amp up any storms. I would encourage everyone to keep the rain gear handy today into tonight and keep tabs on the rain in the Radar tab of the RedZone Weather app. High temperatures today will only be in the 50s in most spots today as a cold front moves southeast across the area.

SHOWERS POSSIBLE SATURDAY… Rain will continue to be possible tonight into the daytime hours of Saturday. Unfortunately, temperatures won’t rebound that much compared to Friday and there is a high chance that afternoon highs on Saturday will again be in the mid-50s.

PARTLY CLOUDY SUNDAY INTO MONDAY… Other than a few showers being possible early Sunday morning, dry conditions are expected for much of the daytime hours of Sunday and on Monday. Temperatures will increase into the mid-60s by Sunday afternoon. High temperatures will be in the upper-70s on Monday afternoon. There is a good chance Monday will be our driest day overall out of the next 7 days.

MORE RAIN LIKELY NEXT WEEK… Showers will become possible again on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of the upcoming week. Temperatures will be at their peak next week on Tuesday when some spots could make a run at 70 degrees in the afternoon hours.

COOLER AIR RETURNS LATE NEXT WEEK…There continues to be a fairly strong signal in the deterministic guidance that much colder air will approach the Deep South late next week behind an advancing strong cold front. Some model runs have pointed to a potential for some wintry precipitation for parts of the Deep South, although the consistency in this idea remains quite low as of now. The best course of action for our forecast right now clearly is to point to a high confidence in RAIN but probably no wintry mix or snow as of now, especially for our local area in south Alabama or northwest Florida. This is something we will be monitoring in the data over the next few days.
