NICE THURSDAY; FEW SHOWERS LATE THIS EVENING; RAIN & STORMS FRIDAY… Clouds will increase across the region on this Thursday ahead of a few showers becoming possible late this evening into the overnight hours. High temperatures today will be in the mid-80s. Rain and a few thunderstorms are set to return to our forecast on Friday. Storms will be scattered in nature, thus there is a real chance some locales may remain completely dry Friday. Following the scattered rain and storms Friday, we have a summer-like pattern setting up for the weekend into early next week. Rain chances will not be particularly high this weekend, but the chance of rain is not at zero either. This means we have a 20-30% chance of showers around this weekend. The good news is we have no organized, widespread severe weather issues for the foreseeable future. A few more Thursday morning forecast notes are below.
PATCHY DENSE FOG THIS MORNING… Just like the last few mornings, there are a few areas of dense fog happening across the region. Fog will likely burn off by 9AM in many spots. Take it easy if you’re traveling locally this morning.
ISOLATED SHOWERS POSSIBLE OVERNIGHT… I expect the daytime hours today to be dry ahead of the low-end (10-20%) chance of a few showers becoming possible later today, particularly in west Alabama in areas west of the Alabama River. This means if you’re in Washington, Clarke, Mobile, Choctaw, or Marengo counties, you have a slightly higher rain chance tonight into the overnight hours compared to areas farther east.
RAIN & STORMS AT TIMES ON FRIDAY… Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected across the area on Friday as a decaying frontal boundary sags to the south. Warm, humid air streaming in from the Gulf of Mexico will allow for showers and storms to bubble up, particularly in the afternoon and evening hours. I will have radar updates posted as needed Friday in the RedZone Weather app. A few thunderstorms may be possible, but widespread severe weather is not expected.
FEW SHOWERS POSSIBLE SATURDAY INTO SUNDAY… Rain chances remain low, but not entirely zero, for the upcoming weekend. There could be a few showers across the region at times. High temperatures will be in the 80s on both Saturday and on Sunday.
POP-UP STORMS AT TIMES NEXT WEEK; WARMER TEMPS… Our weather pattern increasingly resembles something like we see in the summertime with the chance of pop-up thunderstorms, heat, and humidity ahead for the upcoming week. Rain chances will be slightly increased on Monday into Tuesday. Fortunately, despite the presence of general thunderstorms, widespread severe weather continues to seem unlikely.
APP… If you haven’t already, be sure to download the free RedZone Weather app to keep up with all the latest information on the world of weather in south Alabama and northwest Florida. redzoneweather.com/app is the link for the free download. Once you have the app downloaded to your iOS or Android device, be sure to visit the Alerts tab (lower right corner) and tap the large, yellow Alert Settings button to customize the alerts you would like to receive straight from me.
