RAIN LIKELY AT TIMES OVERNIGHT; FEW STORMS POSSIBLE… Heavy rain and occasional thunderstorms will be possible overnight into Saturday morning across south Alabama and northwest Florida. The good news is the overall risk of any severe weather issues remains quite low, although a stronger storm or two near the coast may be possible tonight into Saturday morning. Don’t be surprised to hear some heavy rain overnight and potentially loud thunder. Showers and storms will stick around until at least around Noon tomorrow (Saturday). Fortunately, we begin to dry out tomorrow evening into Sunday. Rain chances won’t be zero Saturday evening or on Sunday, but chances will trend much lower.

SEVERE WEATHER RISK REMAINS VERY LOW… The main risks from any thunderstorms that happen to ramp up to stronger levels overnight into Saturday morning will be gusty winds and large hail. The overall tornado risk remains near zero for inland areas and very low for communities closer to the coast. Any tornado risk will probably be maximized in northwest Florida eastward into the Florida Panhandle region, and even in the areas where the risk is maximized, the overall risk remains quite low. Hail could happen in the stronger storms overnight, but probably not the extreme hail sizes we saw last weekend where some hailstones were baseball- to softball-sized near Orange Beach.

I will have radar updates overnight as needed in the RedZone Weather app. Keep in mind that even in these situations where live coverage is not needed, you can always get the latest info in the RZW app.

APP ALERTS… If you haven’t already downloaded the RedZone Weather app, now is a great time to do that. redzoneweather.com/app is the link to the free download. Once you have the RZW app installed on your iOS or Android device, be sure to visit the Alerts tab to turn on the specific notifications you’d like to receive. All notifications are handcrafted by me. No automation and we promise not to bug you!
