SCATTERED SHOWERS TODAY; MORE RAIN & STORMS TONIGHT… Scattered areas of rain and thunderstorms are expected at times on this Friday ahead of a more organized mass of rain and storms moving across our region tonight into Saturday morning. High temperatures today will be in the low-70s due to all of the clouds and rain around. Just like the last few days, some of the thunderstorms later today into tonight may produce loud thunder, quite a bit of lightning, and heavy rain. I expect rain coverage to really increase after 8PM this evening. Rain will likely stick around into Saturday morning, with heavy rain being possible at times. Some of the storms on Saturday morning could be strong, particularly in areas near the northwest Florida coast. We finally get a break from the rain early next week as drier conditions arrive. More Friday morning forecast details are below.
RAIN LIKELY AT TIMES SATURDAY; FEW STRONG STORMS… We start the day on Saturday dealing with what is left of the cluster of showers and thunderstorms from Friday evening. This organized batch of rain and storms will likely be on the eastern side of our area by Saturday morning around dawn. Showers and storms will become more scattered in nature throughout the day on Saturday.
LOW-END SEVERE WEATHER RISK MAINLY TO OUR SOUTHEAST SATURDAY… The Storm Prediction Center has included parts of Santa Rosa and Okaloosa counties in northwest Florida and points east in their Level 1 (out of 5) severe weather risk valid for Saturday morning into the early afternoon hours. This risk is driven exclusively by a low-end chance of a few stronger storms capable of producing gusty winds and hail. The tornado risk today and on Saturday remains quite low if not near zero in most spots.
FEW SHOWERS POSSIBLE SUNDAY… Showers will be possible on Sunday, particularly early in the day. Skies will remain cloudy throughout the day, but there may be a few peeks of sunshine by 3-4PM. Highs on Sunday will again be in the mid-70s.
DRIER CONDITIONS EARLY NEXT WEEK… There continues to be increasing data that supports a drier week ahead! Sunshine returns Monday and extends to Wednesday. There could be a few clouds and maybe even a few showers early next week, but I expect those showers to be few and far between through at least Wednesday. Highs will be in the 70s.
