HEAT INDEX VALUES IN THE 110-115° RANGE ON FRIDAY; WARNING ISSUED… A rare Excessive Heat Warning has been issued for parts of our local area as heat index values will be in the 110-115 degree range on Friday. The air temperature very well may hit 100 degrees in several communities across our region. It cannot be stressed enough: Please take it easy tomorrow and if you know someone that works outside, let them know tomorrow will not be the normal summer heat we encounter around here.
HEAT WARNING FOR WEST AL & COASTAL COUNTIES… The difference between an “Excessive Heat Warning” and a “Heat Advisory” is very small. ALL communities will have heat and humidity that can be dangerous for sensitive groups. Washington, Mobile, Baldwin, Escambia (FL), Santa Rosa, Okaloosa, and Walton counties are involved in the Excessive Heat Warning. Clarke, Monroe, Choctaw, Wilcox, Butler, Conecuh, Escambia (AL), Covington, Crenshaw, and all of southeast Alabama are involved in the Heat Advisory.
Heat stroke and heat exhaustion can sneak up on folks quickly in the heat we have in place tomorrow.
Other than a few showers and thunderstorms tomorrow afternoon and evening and the excessive heat and humidity, our weather pattern remains fairly quiet. The tropics are completely quiet and expected to remain that way for a week or so at least. Good news!
