NUMEROUS STORMS LIKELY TODAY; WET WEEK AHEAD… Rain and thunderstorms will continue to be the norm this week as our wet, unsettled summer pattern continues. Showers and storms will be most numerous today in the afternoon and evening hours, although we note that several areas of rain and storms are ongoing across the region this morning. High temperatures today and over the next several days will be in the mid-80s. Fortunately, no tropical storms or hurricanes are expected to form in the Gulf or any of the Atlantic Basin this week. A few more Monday morning forecast details are below.
P.M. STORMS REMAIN FIXTURE OF THE FORECAST THIS WEEK… Rain chances will remain quite high today through Thursday as prolific moisture saturates the atmosphere and allows scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms to develop each day. Widespread severe weather is not expected over the next few days, but some of the storms each day may be “loud and proud” at times with cloud-to-ground lightning being the main concern. You know the drill: When thunder roars, please go indoors.
ATLANTIC BASIN REMAINS QUIET… The Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, and Atlantic Ocean remain quiet with no new tropical development expected over the next 5-7 days.
