TD9 STRENGTHENS; NOW TROPICAL STORM IDA… Just in as of 4:20PM CDT, Tropical Depression 9 has strengthened and has been designated a tropical storm, taking the name “Ida.”
From the National Hurricane Center: Air Force Reserve hurricane hunter aircraft data indicate that the depression has strengthened to Tropical Storm Ida. The maximum sustained winds are estimated to be 40 mph with higher gusts.
