HEAVY RAIN & STORMS AT TIMES TODAY; UNSETTLED PATTERN THIS WEEK… Scattered showers and thunderstorms will continue to be possible throughout the day on this Monday. We had quite a bit of rain overnight, associated with a tropical disturbance that moved across our region. The swirl of storms associated with the disturbance “made landfall” with the center coming onshore near Orange Beach shortly before midnight. This area of low pressure continues to move northeast. The overall severe weather risk locally today remains quite low, yet rain chances remain quite elevated. Keep the umbrellas handy today. More storms will be possible in the days ahead before a drier streak of days kicks off on Friday. A few more Monday morning forecast notes are below.
LOW-END SEVERE WEATHER RISK TO OUR EAST… The Storm Prediction Center includes much of the Florida Panhandle, southeast Alabama, Georgia, and South Carolina in their low-end, Level 1 (out of 5) severe weather risk valid for today. We note that Covington, Okaloosa, and Walton counties are involved in the Level 1 (out of 5) severe weather risk. A Level 1 (out of 5) severe weather risk means that widespread severe weather is not expected, but one or two severe storms can’t completely be ruled out. The main concern locally will be storms capable of briefly ramping up and producing gusty winds and small hail. The defined tornado risk is located well to our east today across parts of Georgia.
SCATTERED STORMS LIKELY TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY… Pop-up thunderstorms will be possible on Tuesday and on Wednesday. Most of the storms will happen in the afternoon and evening hours when the highest amount of atmospheric heat content will exist. Highs will be in the mid-80s each day.
MORE STORMS THURSDAY… After today, Thursday is the day that has the potential to be particularly wet across our area as another area of low pressure slides by just to our west. Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms are likely on Thursday. Rain may be heavy at times with an additional half inch to one inch of rain being possible.
DRIER & WARMER THIS WEEKEND… Friday, Saturday, and Sunday are expected to feature drier conditions with high temperatures in the upper-80s and near 90 each day. Mostly sunny skies are expected this weekend.

I have seen named tropical storms that did not "look this good" on radar… Seeing heavy rain and gusty winds continue across the region early on this Monday as this tropical disturbance continues to move northeast. pic.twitter.com/lvADecbBk1

Weird system going on, these aren’t the strongest winds I experienced tonight by any means but it’s enough to move signs a bit and cause the trees to move
