MOSTLY SUNNY TODAY; FEW SHOWERS POSSIBLE… Mostly sunny skies are ahead today and over the next few days in the morning hours. Clouds will increase in the afternoon hours today ahead of a low-end (10-20%) chance of a few showers and thunderstorms bubbling up in the heat of the day. Widespread, significant severe storms are not expected today or over the next several days. High temperatures today will be in the upper-80s and near 90 areawide. A few more Memorial Day forecast notes are below.
SCATTERED STORMS LIKELY IN THE AFTERNOONS AHEAD… This week will feature a seasonal summertime pattern across the region with a chance of showers and thunderstorms each afternoon. High temperature will be around 90 with morning lows in the upper-60s.
AGATHA IN THE PACIFIC; LOW-END CHANCE OF REDEVELOPMENT IN ATLANTIC BASIN… Hurricane Agatha is a powerful storm packing maximum winds well in excess of 100 mph today. Agatha is expected to make landfall along the southern, Pacific coast of Mexico this evening or tonight. The system will likely weaken to the point of being a remnant low pressure area by tomorrow night. The National Hurricane Center has defined an area in the southern Gulf of Mexico and Bay of Campeche OR the western Caribbean Sea near the Yucatan Peninsula where the remnants of Agatha may redevelop into a tropical storm. Early model indications point to the remnants of Agatha never being a direct concern for Alabama or northwest Florida.
