MORE OF THE SAME: SCATTERED STORMS THIS WEEKEND… If you like the ongoing weather pattern, good news: It’s set to continue! Scattered showers and thunderstorms will continue to be a daily fixture of our forecast this weekend into early next week. Most of the storms around this weekend will happen in the afternoon and evening hours. Fortunately, there is no formal risk of severe weather and no discernible tornado risk. Cloud-to-ground lightning, localized downpours of very heavy rain, loud thunder, and gusty winds will be possible in the stronger storms today and into the weekend. High temperatures will be in the mid- to upper-80s with morning lows in the low-70s.

NO FORMAL SEVERE WEATHER RISK, BUT LOUD STORMS POSSIBLE THIS WEEKEND… You can keep tabs on the radar in the Radar tab of the RedZone Weather app this weekend as pop-up storms develop. I will have radar updates posted in the Home/Refresh tab/main page of the app throughout the weekend as well. No need to cancel major plans this weekend, but just have an indoor backup plan in case you’re close by one of the showers or thunderstorms.

TROPICS QUIET, FOR NOW… The Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, and Atlantic Ocean are not expected to support tropical storm formation over the next 5 days. The National Hurricane Center has not flagged any areas of concern. The Atlantic Hurricane Season will peak around September 11.

APP… If you haven’t already, be sure to download the free RedZone Weather app to keep up with all the latest information on the world of weather in south Alabama and northwest Florida. redzoneweather.com/app is the link for the free download. Once you have the app downloaded to your iOS or Android device, be sure to visit the Alerts tab (lower right corner) and tap the large, yellow Alert Settings button to customize the alerts you would like to receive straight from me.
