SCATTERED STORMS & HEAVY RAIN LIKELY AT TIMES TODAY… Showers and thunderstorms will be possible throughout the day on this Thursday. While it won’t be an all day washout, thunderstorms will be possible pretty much all day and into the evening hours. Widespread severe weather is not expected locally, but some of the thunderstorms that pop up may be on the strong side, producing gusty winds, cloud-to-ground lightning, loud thunder, and heavy rain. While the risk of a tropical storm developing in the Gulf of Mexico has completely diminished for now, prolific Gulf moisture will continue to keep our rain chances above our seasonal norms today and tomorrow.

TROPICS NOW QUIET… The Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, and Atlantic Ocean are quiet with no noted areas of concern. Tropical storm formation is not expected over the next 5 days. The Atlantic Hurricane Season peaks around September 11 each year.

SCATTERED STORMS AROUND THIS WEEKEND… Rain and thunderstorms will continue to be likely into the upcoming weekend, although there will be occasional peeks of sunshine. We are not expecting an all day washout on any given day in the next 7 days. Just be aware that storms will be numerous at times, mainly in the afternoon and evening hours. High temperatures this weekend will be in the mid-80s with morning lows in the low-70s.
