HOT LAST WEEK OF JUNE; HIGH TEMPS NEAR 100° LATER THIS WEEK… Pop-up storms will be possible each day this week but the bigger weather story is going to be the building heat across our region over the next several days. High temperatures will be in the low- to mid-90s today with heat index values closer to 100 degrees. By Thursday and Friday, air temperatures will be near or just above the 100 degree mark with heat index values around 105-110°. Very hot temperatures ahead! Most of the showers and thunderstorms that develop in the heat of the day will be below severe limits, although a few storms capable of producing gusty winds may be possible today and in the days ahead.

TROPICAL UPDATE: BRET DISSIPATED; CINDY WEAK & DISORGANIZED… Tropical Storm Bret dissipated over the weekend. The remnants of Bret have essentially fizzled out completely in the central Caribbean Sea. Tropical Storm Cindy is barely hanging on as a tropical storm in the Atlantic Ocean. Cindy is expected to dissipate later today. The remainder of the tropics, including the Gulf of Mexico, remain quiet.
