Argo floats ahead of Invest #93L show plenty of ocean heat content (deep, very warm water) in the Gulf of Mexico. More heat content = more energy will be available to whatever the invest becomes.

SLIGHTLY HIGHER RAIN CHANCES NEXT WEEK… The chances for P.M. showers and thunderstorms will increase quite a bit early next week as a big ridge of high pressure gradually breaks down across the nation’s midsection. High temperatures will be in the 90s next week but not before an exceptionally hot weekend.
INCREASED RAIN CHANCES NEXT WEEK; VERY HOT TEMPS THRU SUNDAY… Pop-up showers and thunderstorms will be a bit more numerous today compared to the last few days, particularly across inland areas of southwest Alabama. High temperatures will be in the 100-103° range in many spots across the region today with heat index values closer to 110°. Rain chances are set to rise next week as temperatures ease back a bit into the 90s for highs as opposed to 100s.
70% CHANCE OF TROPICAL STORM FORMATION IN CARIBBEAN AND GULF… An area of disturbed weather in the western Caribbean Sea continues to become better organized. The National Hurricane Center now indicates there is a 70% chance of a tropical storm forming in the western Caribbean Sea or southern Gulf of Mexico in the next 5-7 days. Specific forecast details will come into focus over the next several days. Confidence remains LOW concerning the potential exact track of this tropical disturbance, although confidence has increased over the last 24 hours that impacts from this developing system are MORE likely to happen across the Florida Peninsula. It is too early to rule out impacts along the northern Gulf Coast, but the trends for our area have featured good news so far. Regardless of if formal development happens, an increased risk of rip currents will likely happen next week at the Alabama and northwest Florida beaches.
