NICE WEATHER THIS WEEKEND… Clearing skies are likely in the hours ahead. Beautiful weather is likely Saturday and Sunday with mild temperatures in the afternoon hours. Early next week looks nice ahead of a few showers again becoming possible by Wednesday and Thursday.
FEW SHOWERS POSSIBLE THIS MORNING; BEAUTIFUL WEEKEND… Isolated showers will be possible over the next few hours but don’t expect rain to linger! These will be quick-hitting showers that quickly exit out of our local area by the early afternoon hours. Most communities will NOT have rain today but some inevitably will. High temperatures will be similar to yesterday with most spots reaching the low-70s by 3PM. Saturday and Sunday will be some of the nicest weather days we have had in 2024 so far with highs in the low- to mid-70s. Morning lows will be in the 40s.
NICE WEATHER THROUGH TUESDAY… The weekend will feature fantastic weather with more nice weather expected on Monday into Tuesday of the upcoming week. High temperatures will be in the upper-70s on Monday and Tuesday with lows in the 50s.
RAIN POSSIBLE BY MIDDLE OF THE UPCOMING WEEK… Rain and perhaps a few thunderstorms will become possible on Wednesday into Thursday of the upcoming week. The Storm Prediction Center has included much of central and north Alabama in their Level 2 (out of 5) severe weather risk zone valid for Wednesday. A cold front will approach our local area from the northwest on Wednesday and there is a chance thunderstorms out ahead of the front may be strong or marginally severe. It is a bit too early to determine whether tornadoes will be a possibility locally, but we are approaching the heart of our severe weather season as we get into March and April. I will have more details on this developing situation early next week. Be sure to check in with me for the latest info on Monday morning in the next regularly scheduled forecast video.

Cumulus clouds have developed across much of the area this afternoon. It is a bit breezy at times ahead of the frontal boundary that will slide through the local area tonight.

Some people are attributing cell network outages (AT&T, Verizon) in the U.S to last night’s X-class #SolarFlare. However, flares only cause radio degradation on the *dayside* of the Earth. As you can see below, the U.S was not affected by the event. So it’s just a coincidence! https://t.co/8EQxLV2qVJ pic.twitter.com/A5kImCmStC

FEW SHOWERS OVERNIGHT; FANTASTIC WEATHER THIS WEEKEND… The weekend will feature beautiful weather with high temperatures near 70 each day. A few showers may happen in the overnight hours tonight into the early morning hours of Friday. Most spots will remain dry.
MILD TEMPS THIS AFTERNOON; FEW SHOWERS OVERNIGHT INTO EARLY FRIDAY… Cloud coverage is expected to increase across south Alabama and northwest Florida on this Thursday. High temperatures will be in the mid-70s today. A few showers may become possible tonight into early Friday as a frontal boundary sags to the south. This front will not usher in colder air, but we will have drier air across the region this weekend. Temperatures on Saturday and Sunday will be QUITE nice with most spots hitting the 70s in the afternoon hours. Full sunshine is expected on Saturday and Sunday.
SHOWERS POSSIBLE OVERNIGHT INTO FRIDAY… While thunderstorms will be possible later today across then northern half of Alabama, storms are NOT expected across the local area. What may become possible, however, are a few sprinkles and light rain showers after sunset. Rain totals will generally be less than one tenth of an inch in total.
BEAUTIFUL WEATHER THIS WEEKEND… Full sunshine is likely on both Saturday and Sunday. This will mark the first time in several weekends that we have had a completely sunny, nice weekend. High temperatures will be in the low-70s on Saturday and on Sunday with overnight lows in the 40s. It does not get much better for a late February weekend.
NEXT SIGNIFICANT RAIN CHANCE NEXT WEEK… If you miss the rainfall on tonight into Friday morning, the next (more significant) chance of rain will likely happen on Wednesday into Thursday. A cold front will likely approach our local area, bringing with it a chance for thunderstorms. It is too early to know if severe weather will be a possibility, but now through early May is typically when we see multiple episodes of severe storms. This will be something to monitor for over the next week. I will bring you the latest information in the RedZone Weather app.
