FEW SHOWERS POSSIBLE TODAY; RAIN & STORMS LIKELY AT TIMES THIS WEEKEND… While most communities across south Alabama and northwest Florida will remain dry on this Wednesday, a few showers may become possible this afternoon into this evening across parts of west Alabama. High temperatures across the region will be in the low- to mid-90s. Mostly dry conditions will continue each day until Friday. Rain chances will rise considerably on Saturday into Sunday with scattered to numerous pop-up showers and thunderstorms being possible.
RAIN POSSIBLE TODAY, PARTICULARLY ACROSS WEST ALABAMA… Showers and perhaps a few thunderstorms may be possible this afternoon, this evening, and tonight across parts of west Alabama. I expect the vast majority of our local area to remain dry but one or two showers and storms cannot completely be ruled out. Widespread severe weather is NOT expected locally today.
LOW-END RAIN CHANCES AGAIN TOMORROW AND FRIDAY… High temperatures will continue to be near the 90 degree mark tomorrow and on Friday with low-end (<10%) rain chances each day. Skies will remain partly cloudy through Friday. UNSETTLED PATTERN THIS WEEKEND… Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms will be possible on Saturday and Sunday. I am not expecting rain to last all day or all night this weekend, but I am expecting multiple rounds of rain and storms. It is a bit too early for any specifics as far as timing, but confidence is growing that we will have some rain and storms around at times this weekend. Strong storms may be a possibility under some scenarios. I will have more updates posted about this over the next several days.
TROPICAL UPDATE… Tropical storm formation is not expected in the Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, or the Atlantic Ocean over the next 5-7 days. The 2024 Atlantic Hurricane Season begins this Saturday, June 1.
