SCATTERED STORMS LIKELY THIS WEEKEND… Higher rain chances are expected as we get into the upcoming weekend. Scattered thunderstorms will be the norm on Saturday, Sunday, into Monday.
MAINLY SUNNY TODAY; HOTTER TEMPS FOR FRIDAY & SATURDAY… High temperatures will peak in the low- to mid-90s today ahead of increasingly hotter temperatures tomorrow, Friday, into Saturday. Mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies are likely throughout the day on this Wednesday. Mostly dry conditions are expected tomorrow ahead of slightly higher rain chances on Friday and Saturday. Rain chances will be much higher on Sunday into Monday when scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms will be possible.
TROPICAL DISTURBANCE IN EASTERN GULF TO MOVE ACROSS FL PENINSULA… The National Hurricane Center is monitoring a tropical disturbance in the far eastern Gulf of Mexico, located near the Florida Peninsula. This feature is moving northeast and will cross the Florida Peninsula today into tonight and emerge into the southwestern Atlantic Ocean. The system then has a 20% chance of becoming a brief tropical storm while moving northeast and out to sea. From the National Hurricane Center: “A broad and elongated area of low pressure near the west-central coast of Florida is producing a large area of disorganized showers and thunderstorms. This system has moved little over the past few hours, but is expected to move northeastward across Florida and move offshore of the U.S. Southeast coast within the next day or so. Although upper-level winds are expected to be only marginally conducive, some slow development is possible while the system moves offshore of the U.S. Southeast coast. Regardless of development, heavy rainfall is forecast to continue across portions of the Florida peninsula during the next few days.”
TROPICAL DEVELOPMENT POSSIBLE IN ABOUT A WEEK IN BAY OF CAMPECHE… Evidence is growing that a brief tropical storm may form in about one week in the far southern part of the Gulf of Mexico, specifically in the Bay of Campeche. Early indications point to the system being a rainmaker for parts of Mexico and perhaps south Texas, but it is far too early to give any conclusive details about this potential system. This will be something to monitor over the next few days, but nothing to worry about for now.
