NUMEROUS POP-UP STORMS TODAY; DRIER & HOTTER THIS WEEKEND… Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms are likely at times on this Thursday. Thunderstorms that pop up will be capable of producing localized areas of very heavy rain, lots of lightning, loud thunder, and gusty winds in the strongest of the storms. Rain chances will maximize today from 9AM to 4PM with rain coverage lessening as we get into the evening hours. High temperatures on this Thursday will be in the upper-80s. We have a warmer (hotter!) and drier pattern setting up for the weekend.
TRENDING DRIER AND WARMER FOR WEEKEND… High temperatures will be in the low-90s on Friday ahead of mid-90s being the norm as we get into Saturday and Sunday. Rain chances are slated to be much lower (10-20% chance range) on both Saturday and Sunday. This will be the hottest weekend of the year so far. Plenty of sunshine is expected as well. Make sure to pack the sunscreen if you’re headed to the beach, river, or local creek to soak up some sun.
RAIN & STORMS RETURN NEXT WEEK… If you miss having rain around this weekend, don’t fret as more pop-up showers and thunderstorms are likely as we get into the early part of next week. Scattered thunderstorms will be possible on Monday and Tuesday, particularly in the afternoon and evening hours.
TROPICS CONTINUE TO BE QUIET… The Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, and Atlantic Ocean are quiet. No tropical storms are expected to develop over the next 5 days. Longer range models are hinting at the potential for some tropical mischief in the western Caribbean or eastern Gulf of Mexico late next week, but that is simply an idea at this point and not set in stone. I will have further updates in the days ahead posted in the RedZone Weather app.
