INCREASED CHANCES OF POP-UP STORMS TODAY, FRIDAY, AND INTO WEEKEND… Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms are likely to develop across south Alabama and northwest Florida on this Thursday. Not every community across the region will have rain and storms before the end of the day, but I expect that many will have storms at times. High temperatures will be in the low-90s today. Looking ahead to Friday and the weekend, rain chances are set to remain elevated. It won’t be an all day rain event but we will have an increased amount of pop-up storms around. Widespread severe storms are not expected today or into the weekend.

TROPICS REMAIN QUIET… The Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, and Atlantic Ocean are quiet with no tropical storms expected to form today, tomorrow, or through the weekend. The National Hurricane Center Tropical Weather Outlook continues to show no areas of concern for formal tropical development over the next 7 days. Good news! The climatological peak of the hurricane season happens on September 11 each year.
