INCREASED RAIN CHANCES OVER NEXT SEVERAL DAYS… Scattered thunderstorms will become a bit more numerous today compared to the last few days. Higher rain chances are in store as we get into Thursday and Friday with numerous pop-up storms being likely. The good news remains that we are in a typical summertime pattern where widespread severe storms remain highly unlikely. Pop-up thunderstorms today and over the next several days will be capable of producing localized downpours of rain, cloud-to-ground lightning, loud thunder, and gusty winds. The overall tornado risk today remains near or at zero. High temperatures today will be in the low- to mid-90s but I am expecting temperatures to be a bit lower (don’t get too excited – only a few degrees!) with highs in the upper-80s into the weekend.

RAIN & STORMS LIKELY AT TIMES THROUGH THE WEEKEND… Pop-up thunderstorms will be more numerous tomorrow, Friday, and into the weekend. An area of high pressure that has been in control of our weather pattern over the last week will weaken and shift to the south, thus allowing more thunderstorms to fire up each day. While it will not be a situation when rain will happen all day in any of the next few days, we will have an increased amount of pop-up thunderstorms around each day. Most of the storms will happen in the P.M. hours, but even in the morning hours through the weekend, a few storms will be possible.

TROPICS REMAIN QUIET… The north Atlantic Ocean, Caribbean Sea, and Gulf of Mexico remain quiet with no new tropical storms expected to develop through the weekend. The 2024 Atlantic Hurricane Season will peak, climatologically speaking, on September 11. Hurricane season will come to an end on November 30.
