Severe storms are not expected today, but some of the storms will be loud at times with quite a bit of lightning and thunder. High temperatures will be in the mid-90s with heat index values in excess of 100° in many spots. Rain chances will gradually increase over the next several days with high (70+%) chances of rain coming next week.
TROPICS: 20% CHANCE OF DEVELOPMENT IN ATLANTIC… The National Hurricane Center indicates there is a 20% chance of a tropical storm developing in the central Atlantic Ocean early next week. From NHC: “An area of low pressure could form in the central portion of the tropical Atlantic in a few days. Thereafter, environmental conditions appear generally favorable for some slow development of this system this weekend into early next week as it moves westward to west-northwestward at 10 to 15 mph.”
TROPICS: GULF & CARIBBEAN REMAIN QUIET, FOR NOW… The Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean Sea remain quiet with no new tropical storms expected to form over the next 5-7 days. The climatological peak of hurricane season is rapidly approaching and will happen on September 11.
