HIGH TEMPS NEAR OR AT 100° TODAY; ERNESTO TO MOVE TOWARD BERMUDA… Extreme heat and humidity is expected on this Wednesday with heat index values in the 105-112° range in many spots across the region. Please take it easy if you’re going to be outside for an extended duration today. Most locales will remain dry today but there could be a few widely scattered showers and thunderstorms. Rain chances, unfortunately, will remain low over the next few days. There may be more scattered showers and storms around this weekend but overall, we are slated to remain in a dry, hot pattern that will result in somewhat of a “flash drought” into next week. Very hot temperatures and ongoing dry conditions are NOT a good combination, but the guidance is suggesting this trend is set to continue into next week.
TROPICAL STORM ERNESTO TO MOVE TOWARD BERMUDA… Tropical Storm Ernesto is currently the only system of concern in the Atlantic Basin – the Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean Sea won’t see tropical storm formation into the weekend. Ernesto is slated to move away from Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands today, moving toward Bermuda in the days ahead. The system will likely be a hurricane on approach to the island and significant impacts will be possible.
