HOT, MOSTLY DRY DAYS UPCOMING; DEBBY CAUSING FLOODING TO OUR EAST… Air temperatures will be in the upper-90s in many communities across south Alabama and northwest Florida with some spots making a run at the 100 degree mark. Heat index values will be in excess of 105° in many locales this afternoon into this evening. An isolated shower or two cannot completely be ruled out today but I am expecting nearly all of us across the region to be dry on this Tuesday. Looking ahead, we have dry, hot days upcoming through Friday. Rain chances will remain deflated due to the counterclockwise circulation associated with Debby ushering in dry air from the north.
DANGEROUS FLOODING SETUP FOR PARTS OF GEORGIA AND SOUTH CAROLINA… Tropical Storm Debby will continue to bring extreme rainfall amounts to parts of north Florida, eastern Georgia, South Carolina, and southeastern North Carolina today. Upwards of 15 to 20 inches of additional rainfall are expected near Charleston, South Carolina. Flash flooding has been a concern and will continue to be a concern over the next few days in those areas. A few tornadoes will also be possible today due to Debby, particularly near the Georgia and South Carolina coast.
TROPICAL DISTURBANCE IN EASTERN CARIBBEAN SEA… The National Hurricane Center indicates there is a 30 percent chance of a tropical storm forming later this week or this weekend in the western Caribbean Sea or near the Yucatan Peninsula. A tropical disturbance currently located in the eastern Caribbean Sea is set to move west over the next few days. Right now, environmental parameters are not supportive of a tropical storm forming but conditions will become more favorable when the tropical wave is in the western Caribbean Sea. It is too early to know specifics about where this system will end up. Early model guidance has pointed to the system crossing the Yucatan and emerging into the far southern Gulf in the Bay of Campeche region. I will keep you posted on this developing system over the next few days in the RedZone Weather app.

VERY HOT TEMPS OVER NEXT FEW DAYS… Kicking off a streak of HOT, mostly dry days today. High temperatures will be in the upper-90s today with heat index values in excess of 105°.
Slightly higher rain chances return this weekend.
Here are GFS model runs from Jul 30th and Aug 1st showing the forecast of Hurricane Debby. Obviously, these are both completely incorrect. Another way of me saying not to buy any one operational model run "just in case" 7-8 days out. And unfollow anyone scaring you into doing so. pic.twitter.com/TF4rQH5ISi
