MAINLY DRY WEDNESDAY & MOSTLY SUNNY THURSDAY; SHOWERS AT TIMES THIS WEEKEND… Most locations across south Alabama and northwest Florida will remain dry today. There is a low-end chance of a few showers and thunderstorms, particularly across parts of west Alabama. There is uncertainty as to if storms moving toward our local area from Mississippi can survive the dry air in place across the region. Some model solutions say yes while many others say no. I detail this extensively in the morning forecast video in the different radar projections for today. Regardless of the rain chances, high temperatures will be in the low to mid 80s across the region on this Wednesday.
DRY CONDITIONS THURSDAY AND FRIDAY… Dry conditions will persist tomorrow and Friday with high temperatures set to be near the 80 degree mark. Most locales will be mostly sunny throughout the day on Thursday with increasing cloudiness on Friday.
SHOWERS AT TIMES THIS WEEKEND… Rain will be possible as we get into the weekend as multiple systems move by the region. Rain seems particularly likely early Saturday morning and then again late Sunday night into early Monday morning. High temperatures will be around the 80 degree mark this weekend.
SEVERE WEATHER UPDATE – SUNDAY INTO EARLY MONDAY… The Storm Prediction Center has condensed the overall severe weather risk zone valid on Sunday into early Monday with much of our local area now OUT of the severe weather risk. This was expected as the expansive Level 2 (out of 5) risk was quite large with data support lacking. This means that rain and thunderstorms will be possible across the local area on Sunday night into Monday but the overall severe weather risk remains quite low. If I see any significant changes, I’ll pass those along to you in the RedZone Weather app.
