Over the next few days you’ll see many maps like this showing model freezing rain amounts for the upcoming major ice storm.
🚨 BE CAREFUL WITH THESE MAPS 🚨
These maps simply show how much precipitation falls in the form of freezing rain. This is *NOT* the same thing as how… pic.twitter.com/Gg3RF4zyAL

COMPLICATED WEEKEND FORECAST… Major uncertainty exists for the weekend regarding the potential for wintry precipitation across portions of the Deep South.
Isolated rain showers will be possible locally on Thursday and Friday – those two days will feature afternoon highs in the 60s and near 70° on Friday before much colder air arrives on Sunday.

PARTLY CLOUDY TUESDAY; FEW SHOWERS LATER THIS WEEK; MAJOR UNCERTAINTY FOR WEEKEND… Partly cloudy, nice weather will happen across south Alabama and northwest Florida on this Tuesday. Temperatures started below freezing in many communities this morning. We’ll rebound into the upper 50s for afternoon highs today. Tonight will feature temperatures at or just above the freezing mark in many communities locally. Isolated rain showers may become possible on Thursday and Friday. The big question mark centers around the weekend – lots of uncertainty exists with the forecast in that time range.
INCREASING TEMPERATURES OVER NEXT FEW DAYS… Temperatures will generally be on the upswing over the next 3-4 days. Afternoon highs will be in the low 60s on Wednesday, upper 60s on Thursday, and perhaps even near 70° by Friday. Overnight lows will be in the 40s Thursday morning and in the 50s by Friday morning.
A FEW RAIN SHOWERS POSSIBLE THURSDAY INTO FRIDAY… Isolated rain showers may become possible on Thursday and Friday as an area of low pressure develops to our west. Our area would likely be on the western periphery of the associated rain chances that happen, thus an overall limiting in the coverage of the rain. High temperatures on Thursday and Friday will be the 60s with low 70s being possible Friday.
UNCERTAINTY THIS WEEKEND; WIDE RANGE OF OUTCOMES… There is a wide range of outcomes for what may transpire this weekend across not just south Alabama and northwest Florida but all across the Deep South. Some models (including the widely shared American-based GFS and ECMWF/Euro) show a prolific, widespread ice storm across several states with snow to the north and rain to the south. These models have been waffling wildly over the last few days and will likely continue to do so through tomorrow. There even is a scenario where our area has thunderstorms this weekend with no wintry weather. For now, I am including a chance of rain on Saturday and Sunday. Please understand that significant forecast changes are EXPECTED over the next few days. Please check back in for weekend forecast updates in the days ahead.

COOL TEMPERATURES THROUGHOUT THE DAY… Partly cloudy skies with high temperatures in the mid 50s are expected across south Alabama and northwest Florida on this Tuesday.
No rain today. Our next rain chance sets up Thursday when isolated showers will become possible.
Lots of uncertainty surrounding the forecast for the upcoming weekend.
