FEW STORMS OVER WEST ALABAMA TODAY; SHOWERS & STORMS ON TUESDAY… Most communities will remain dry across south Alabama and northwest Florida on this Monday. A few showers and thunderstorms may happen this afternoon into this evening, mainly in west Alabama. High temperatures will be in the mid-80s today. Rain and storms will be possible on Tuesday across the entire local area as a frontal boundary slides through. Fortunately, parameters remain unsupportive for severe weather issues. This means that a few thunderstorms may happen, but the overall severe weather risk is low. Later in the week, we have another streak of sunny, nice days ahead. A few more Monday morning forecast notes are below.
MAINLY SUNNY FOR MOST COMMUNITIES TODAY; STORMS OVER WEST ALABAMA… Rain chances will be greatest in areas west of the Alabama River today in parts of Monroe, Clarke, Washington, Wilcox, Marengo, Choctaw, and Mobile counties. Not all communities in west Alabama will have rain today, but some will. Communities farther east will likely remain dry. Severe storms are not expected locally today. We note a few stronger storms may happen across parts of Mississippi and Louisiana today where a low-end, Level 1 (out of 5) severe weather risk is in place.
SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS POSSIBLE TUESDAY… Rain chances will be maximized across the region on Tuesday when showers and thunderstorms will be possible. The greatest coverage of showers and storms will likely happen in the afternoon hours. Highs on Tuesday will again be in the 80s. Severe weather seems rather unlikely on Tuesday, thankfully, as the better dynamic support for this passing weather system will be displaced well to our north. The Storm Prediction Center has included our region in their “General Thunderstorms” zone. I will have radar updates posted today and tomorrow in the RedZone Weather app.
SUNNY, WARM CONDITIONS LATER THIS WEEK… Sunshine is slated to return to our local forecast on Wednesday. Plenty of sunshine is ahead for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. High temperatures will be in the 80s later this week.
APP… If you haven’t already, be sure to download the free RedZone Weather app to keep up with all the latest information on the world of weather in south Alabama and northwest Florida. redzoneweather.com/app is the link for the free download. Once you have the app downloaded to your iOS or Android device, be sure to visit the Alerts tab (lower right corner) and tap the large, yellow Alert Settings button to customize the alerts you would like to receive straight from me.
See all the details in your Monday morning #rzw forecast video. Have a great start to your week!
