SCATTERED STORMS AT TIMES THIS WEEKEND… Rain and storms will be possible at times on Saturday into Sunday across south Alabama and northwest Florida. Most spots are expected to remain dry on this Friday, but rain chances are not at zero today. High temperatures will be in the low-80s today ahead of mid-80s by Sunday. While we do not have any formal risk of severe weather this weekend, some of the thunderstorms that develop may be loud and produce heavy downpours of rain in isolated areas.

UNSETTLED PATTERN INTO NEXT WEEK… While the ongoing forecast data does NOT support any significant chances of severe storms over the next 7 days, there appears to be enough moisture around to support low-end rain chances as we go into early next week. High temperatures will be in the mid- to upper-80s next week with morning lows in the mid-60s.

SUNNY, NICE THURSDAY; FEW SHOWERS & STORMS AROUND THIS WEEKEND… Nice, sunny conditions will continue on this Thursday with high temperatures in the mid-80s across south Alabama and northwest Florida. Showers and thunderstorms will become possible on Friday into Saturday ahead of higher rain chances setting up for Sunday. Fortunately, severe weather is not expected through the next 7 days. A few more Thursday morning forecast notes are below.

FEW SHOWERS & STORMS JUST TO OUR EAST THIS AFTERNOON… Most locales across southwest Alabama and northwest Florida will remain completely dry on this Thursday. Rain chances are not zero today, however, across parts of Covington and Okaloosa counties. Showers and storms may develop this afternoon into the evening hours across parts of the Florida Panhandle region and southeast Alabama. This moisture may cause a few showers and perhaps a thunderstorm or two this afternoon in parts of Covington and Okaloosa counties. I will have radar updates posted throughout the day in the RedZone Weather app.

FEW STORMS AROUND THIS WEEKEND… Showers and storms will be possible on Saturday and likely at times on Sunday. Widespread severe weather is not expected, although some of the storms on Sunday may produced localized areas of heavy rain, gusty winds, and cloud-to-ground lightning.

SUNNY, NICE WEDNESDAY; RAIN AT TIMES THIS WEEKEND… Ample sunshine is expected across south Alabama and northwest Florida on this Wednesday. High temperatures will peak in the upper-70s and near the 80 degree mark today. Sunny skies are expected Thursday and on Friday ahead of rain chances set to return this weekend. Fortunately, I see no signs of any significant severe weather issues in sight. Showers and thunderstorms are expected to be most numerous on Sunday into Monday of the upcoming week.

APRIL 27, 2011 ANNIVERSARY… Today marks the 11th Anniversary of the April 27, 2011 Super Tornado Outbreak that killed 252 Alabamians and injured countless others. The outbreak caused major damage in MANY communities, both large and small, urban and rural, across the northern half of Alabama. I was a college student at the time and I will never forget watching the live severe weather coverage from the historic event. We will never forget the lives that were lost on that Wednesday 11 years ago today.
