PHENOMENAL WEATHER TODAY AND TOMORROW; RAIN & STORMS AT TIMES MONDAY… Sunny skies are expected across south Alabama and northwest Florida on this Friday. High temperatures will be in the upper 60s and near the 70 degree mark today. Clear skies are likely overnight with overnight lows near 40° in most spots. We’ll be about 10 degrees warmer on Saturday with highs in the upper 70s. Full sunshine is expected throughout the day tomorrow. Clouds will increase in coverage on Sunday P.M. ahead of our next chance of rain and thunderstorms on Monday.
FEW SHOWERS POSSIBLE SUNDAY EVENING INTO SUNDAY NIGHT… One or two isolated rain showers will be possible across the region after sunset on Sunday evening. I am not expecting widespread rain or thunderstorms in our local area on Sunday into Sunday evening. The Storm Prediction Center maintains a Level 2 (out of 5) severe weather risk for much of northwest Alabama, north Mississippi, Louisiana, Southern Arkansas, east Texas, and much of Tennessee valid on Sunday into Sunday night. Gusty winds and hail are the main hazards of concern. The overall tornado risk is low for these areas on Sunday but not zero.
RAIN & STORMS MONDAY; LOW-END SEVERE WEATHER RISK… The same system responsible for the severe weather risk to our north and west on Sunday will push into south Alabama and northwest Florida on Sunday night into Monday morning. A low-end, Level 1 (out of 5) severe weather risk will probably be in place for much of the region. This means that widespread, significant severe weather is not expected, but one or two isolated severe storms can’t completely be ruled out. Most locales across the region will simply have rain and thunder at times on Monday, particularly in the morning hours. Rain will move from northwest to southeast across the region throughout the day Monday. We’ll go dry Monday night ahead of a nice few weather days into the middle of next week.
NICE WEATHER RETURNS TUESDAY THROUGH THURSDAY… High temperatures will be in the low 80s by the time we get into the middle part of the upcoming week. Mostly dry conditions are expected on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Rain chances on Wednesday may end up having to be upped just a bit as a few showers may become possible. That is something I will be monitoring over the next few days.
