STORMS MOVING INTO WEST ALABAMA… Thunderstorms are now happening, as of 8:03AM, near Millry, Cullomburg, Silas, Toxey, Gilbertown, Butler, Yarbo, and Fruitdale in west Alabama. These storms are due to the main line of thunderstorms.

A few separate storms have developed near Thomasville and Camden. These storms are out ahead of the main batch of storms. Quite a bit of lightning is happening with the storm in Wilcox County near Camden.

Clearly, the most intense part of this line of storms is coming through eastern Louisiana and southeast Mississippi where multiple severe thunderstorm warnings with “considerable” damage tags are in effect. 70-80 mph wind gusts possible shortly near metro New Orleans, Slidell, Picayune, Poplarville, Kiln, and Waveland.

This main batch of thunderstorms will continue to move east across south Alabama and northwest Florida over the next few hours. Damaging wind gusts and tornadoes will be the concerns.

One caveat/wrinkle in the forecast this morning: Just how much the stable air due to the thunderstorms last evening will impact this advancing line of storms. We will see if any lingering stable air can take a toll on the line of storms. Hopefully that is the case, but that is not a guarantee. Watching trends carefully.
