COLD AIR MOVES IN TOMORROW; TEMPS BELOW FREEZING RETURN MONDAY NIGHT… Winter took a break for Christmas 2025, but it is set to roar back tomorrow morning as a strong cold front moves in from the northwest. High temperatures tomorrow will technically occur just after midnight (tonight) as very cold air pushes in tomorrow morning. Temperatures around Noon will be in the 40s and 50s region wide. The thermometer will continue to plummet all day and into tomorrow night. Air temperatures (what you see on the thermometer) will be in the 20s Monday night into Tuesday morning with the wind chill values (visible on the attached map) in the 10s and 20s. The gusty northwest wind will make temperatures feel even colder.
RAIN SHOWERS POSSIBLE OVERNIGHT INTO MONDAY MORNING… Showers will be possible overnight into Monday ahead of the advancing cold front. At the time I am writing this update around 8:10PM, we’re seeing a few showers develop across parts of southeast Mississippi. These showers will ultimately move into southwest Alabama and northwest Florida overnight. Rain amounts are generally expected to remain below 0.25″ across the entire region. Rain will be long gone tomorrow before the very cold air arrives, thus there is no chance of snow or mixed precipitation across the local area with this passing system.
TUESDAY TO BE COLDEST DAY OF THE WEEK… We’ll start off in the 20s on Tuesday morning with temperatures only rising into the mid to upper 40s for afternoon highs. Keep the gloves and jackets handy throughout the day on Tuesday. Wind won’t be much of a factor on Tuesday (unlike Monday).
MILDER TEMPS LATER THIS WEEK… Afternoon highs will be in the 60s on New Year’s Day Thursday and on Friday. Overnight lows will be in the 40s Thursday night into Friday morning. The weekend will feature mild days and cool nights. That temperature trend will likely continue into next week as well.
