LIVE UPDATE: RAIN LIKELY; CHANGEOVER TO FLURRIES/SNOW POSSIBLE OVERNIGHT… We’re locking in to the forecast for the overnight hours into Sunday morning in that we will have rain being possible over the next several hours. There may be a brief period of flurries and/or snow showers across parts of southwest Alabama and northwest Florida after midnight. Accumulations are generally expected to be light and minor in nature with most spots locally getting less than a half inch of snow. MOST communities locally probably won’t have any snow on the ground tomorrow morning.
BIGGER SNOW TOTALS LIKELY TO OUR EAST… Significant snow accumulations (up to 2-3″) will be possible across parts of Georgia tomorrow morning. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Houston and Henry counties in southeast Alabama. These are the only two counties in Alabama under any type of winter advisory/warning. Parts of south-central Georgia are under a Winter Storm Warning, including places near Macon (GA), Americus (GA), and Dublin (GA).
ROAD HAZARDS POSSIBLE (BUT NOT A CERTAINTY) TOMORROW MORNING… There is a chance some of the local roadways, specifically on the eastern side of our region near places like Andalusia, Opp, Florala, and Crestview, may have snow/ice hazards for a period of time tomorrow morning. Temperatures will rise into the upper 30s most likely in the midmorning hours. Air temperatures will reach the 40s tomorrow afternoon, helping to melt any lingering snow on the ground.
SHARE YOUR SNOW PHOTOS… If you happen to have any snow overnight into Sunday morning, please send me a message with a photo and location, even if it’s just a dusting of snow. Please include the approximate location where the photo was taken. I will be sharing some photos on social media and in the RedZone Weather app.
