COLD MONDAY; LOWS IN 20s TONIGHT; WARMER TEMPS BY WEDNESDAY… Full sunshine is expected throughout the day on this Monday. Air temperatures will struggle to reach the 50s across inland areas of southwest Alabama today. Highs will range from the mid 40s near places like Thomasville and Beatrice to the mid 50s closer to Bayou La Batre, Dauphin Island, Gulf Shores, and Pensacola Beach. A Cold Weather Advisory is in effect tonight as temperatures will be in the mid 20s by daybreak tomorrow with wind chill values in the low 20s. This cold snap won’t last long, however, as temperatures will quickly rebound into the 70s by Wednesday. Our next rain chance happens Thursday into Friday.
COLD WEATHER ADVISORY TONIGHT; LOWS IN 20s… Freeze precautions will be needed overnight into Tuesday morning as low temperatures are expected to be in the mid 20s by 6AM tomorrow morning. Many communities will have 6-8 hours with below freezing temperatures. This will be the coldest night of the week, by far. We encourage everyone to bring in outdoor pets and outdoor plants.
TRENDING WARMER TOMORROW… High temperatures will be in the 50s region wide tomorrow with mostly sunny skies expected throughout the day. Temperatures are expected to remain well above the freezing mark tomorrow night into Wednesday morning.
WARMER TEMPS FOR WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY… The cold snap our local area is dealing with won’t last long as high temperatures are projected to be in the mid 70s on both Wednesday and Thursday. Mild temperatures will continue into the upcoming weekend with no sign of freezing temperatures after we get through tonight.
NEXT RAIN CHANCE: THURSDAY INTO FRIDAY… Scattered showers and thunderstorms will become possible across the local area late Thursday into Friday as a frontal boundary approaches from the northwest. Rain chances will likely peak Thursday night into the pre-dawn hours of Friday, although confidence in timing of the rain and storms remains a bit low as of now. The overall risk of severe storms is expected to remain low. Forecast changes will be possible in the days ahead. Please check back for updates.
