DENSE FOG THIS MORNING; SUNNY THIS AFTERNOON; DRY, WARM DAYS THRU MIDWEEK… Fog is dense in some communities across south Alabama and northwest Florida on this Monday. Fog will burn off later this morning, giving way to sunny skies this afternoon into this evening. Afternoon high temperatures will be in the upper 70s and low 80s. Dry weather will continue over the next few days. Fog will be a concern each night and into the early morning hours. Our next rain chance happens later this week into the upcoming weekend ahead of an approaching cold front. The front won’t bring cold air, but it could bring a few thunderstorms to the region by the weekend.
NEXT RAIN CHANCE: LATER THIS WEEK INTO THE WEEKEND… Isolated rain showers may become possible as early as Thursday afternoon, however rain chances look to peak in the next 7 days during the upcoming weekend. Scattered showers and perhaps a few thunderstorms will become possible on Saturday into Sunday ahead of an advancing frontal boundary. For now, it’s too early to know if severe storms will be a real possibility across portions of the Deep South. That is something I will be closely monitoring over the next few days.
PEAK OF SEVERE WEATHER SEASON: MARCH AND APRIL… Now that we are in the month of March, it’s a good time to review all severe weather safety plans. Why? March and April are historically our most active tornado months across the Deep South. While we have no tornadoes in the forecast over the next few days, severe weather is often a fixture of the forecast this time of year. We encourage everyone to make a plan AHEAD OF severe weather being possible: Know where you would go, what you would do, and who you would communicate with in times of severe weather. Research shows time and time again that when folks have a PLAN ahead of severe weather, outcomes are almost always better!
