MOSTLY SUNNY THRU THE WEEKEND; DRY CONDITIONS PERSIST INTO NEXT WEEK… Nice, dry weather will continue this weekend into early next week. Drought conditions across the region continue to worsen. While we very much need rainfall across the region, none is in the forecast over the next few days. High temperatures will be in the upper 70s and near the 80 degree mark today. We’ll be in the low 80s on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. Mostly sunny skies will be in place across south Alabama and northwest Florida at least through early next week.
WARM TEMPERATURES FRIDAY, SATURDAY, AND SUNDAY… Temperatures will warm into the low 80s tomorrow, Saturday, and Sunday with beautiful, warm afternoons expected each day. Overnight lows will be in the low to mid 60s. No rain is in the forecast through the weekend.
PARTLY CLOUDY MONDAY AND TUESDAY… The local area will remain rain-free on Monday and Tuesday as well. High temperatures early next week will be in the mid 80s with morning lows around the 60 degree mark.
NO RAIN IN SIGHT, FOR NOW… After all the talk of dry, nice weather days upcoming, the obvious question is: “So when IS the next chance of rain?” I don’t have a good answer for that, unfortunately. We’re seeing signs that we may have some low-end rain chances toward the end of next week (in the April 15-17) range, but the signal isn’t clear at this point. While certainly not helpful in the immediate and short term, I am optimistic with the global ENSO phase shifting to an El Niño pattern, hopefully we will see more rain across our region in the months ahead due to a more active subtropical jet stream. Way too early to resolve any details on that, but it is something I will be keeping an eye on in the months ahead.
