PARTLY CLOUDY, MILD MONDAY; INCREASED RAIN CHANCES THIS WEEKEND… Slightly cooler, drier air is in place today across south Alabama and northwest Florida after the passage of a cold front yesterday. Most locales across the region did receive some rain yesterday, but totals didn’t stack up to much. Today, no rain is expected. High temperatures will be in the upper 70s and close to the 80 degree mark by 3PM. Dry weather will continue over the next few days ahead of slightly higher rain chances as we get into the upcoming weekend.

MOSTLY CLOUDY & DRY TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY… Skies will be mostly cloudy tomorrow afternoon and into the evening hours. Clouds will persist for much of the day on Wednesday as well. High temperatures will be in the low 80s tomorrow and Wednesday.

SCATTERED SHOWERS & THUNDERSTORMS POSSIBLE THIS WEEKEND… I am seeing intermittent signals of multiple waves of rain and thunderstorms during the upcoming weekend and into early next week. While it is too early for any specifics about what communities may have hazards (if any develop), I am encouraged that we may finally begin to see some relief from the ongoing drought across the region. We will be able to get much more specific about timing for rain this weekend over the next few days. Please check back in with me for updates.

42 DAYS UNTIL HURRICANE SEASON… We are just over a month out from the start of the 2026 Atlantic Hurricane Season. The seasonal guidance from most of the long range forecasting agencies points to a near normal or slightly below normal season, in terms of overall activities and the number of hurricanes that develops. These forecasts are in place due to the expected develop of El Niño conditions in the equatorial waters of the Pacific Ocean. Despite being far away from our local area, El Niño can influence our local weather and patterns across the globe. In this case, increased shear across the Atlantic Basin, including the Gulf and Caribbean, often inhibits tropical development in an El Niño setup. Despite this, it only takes one storm to make it a memorable year. It’s important to be prepared ahead of the season.
