HEAVY RAIN AND THUNDERSTORMS AT TIMES TODAY; FLOOD WATCH FOR ALL… More in the way of rain and thunderstorms will happen across south Alabama and northwest Florida on this Tuesday. It likely will not rain all day in any one community, but we will have heavy rain at times as multiple waves of storms move in from the Gulf. The greatest rain chances will likely happen between 10AM and 5PM as a complex of thunderstorms moves in from the south. This band of rain and storms will spread inland throughout the day and into this evening. Widespread, significant severe weather is unlikely, but a few, brief stronger storms can’t completely be ruled out. Lightning, loud thunder, and gusty winds may happen in the strongest of the storms. I will have radar updates posted throughout the day in the RedZone Weather app. High temperatures will be in the 78-82° range today.

FLOOD WATCH FOR ALL LOCAL COUNTIES THRU THIS EVENING… The entirety of south Alabama and northwest Florida remain involved in a Flood Watch through this evening. Flash Flood Warnings may become necessary at times today if/when thunderstorms train over the same areas. Much of the region has had quite a bit of rain over the last few days, so these storms are happening on saturated soil, in some cases. If you encounter a water-covered roadway, please “turn around, don’t drown.”

MORE SCATTERED STORMS TOMORROW AND THURSDAY… The overall coverage of showers and storms may taper just a bit tomorrow, but I am expecting more showers and thunderstorms to develop tomorrow and on Thursday. Severe storms seem unlikely, but cloud-to-ground lightning will be a concern in all of the storms. The ongoing Flood Watch may need to be extended, depending on how much rain we pick up across the region today.

MORE STORMS LATER THIS WEEK INTO THE WEEKEND… No real changes in the ongoing forecast logic in that we are expecting scattered showers and thunderstorms to be possible later this week into the upcoming weekend. It very likely will not rain all day on any given day, but pop-up style showers and thunderstorms will be possible.
