RAIN CLEARS OUT SETTING UP DRIER, NICE WEEKEND… Lingering showers will continue to move out of our local area to the east over the next several hours. Skies will probably remain mostly cloudy until midday in most locations ahead of clearing skies in the afternoon and evening hours. A few widely scattered pop-up storms could develop this evening, but I expect most locales across south Alabama and northwest Florida to remain dry once rain clears out this morning. High temperatures will be in the mid 80s today. If you’re headed to a high school football game this evening, temperatures will be in the 70s for the most part with most locations expected to be dry.

NICE WEATHER FOR THE WEEKEND… Mostly sunny skies are expected on both Saturday and Sunday. High temperatures will be in the mid to upper 80s each day with morning lows in the low 60s. It will be the perfect weekend to get outside and enjoy outdoor activities.

TROPICS: GULF TO REMAIN QUIET… No tropical storms are expected to form in the Gulf over the weekend or into early next week. The Caribbean is mostly quiet as well, other than the showers and storms associated with INVEST 94L, located near Hispaniola this morning.

TROPICS: HUMBERTO IN ATLANTIC & INVEST 94L NEAR HISPANIOLA… Tropical Storm Humberto is located northeast of the Leeward Islands and Puerto Rico, moving slowly northwest in the Atlantic Ocean this morning. The forward speed of Humberto will pick up tomorrow into Sunday. Humberto will likely become a major hurricane by Sunday, but thankfully at that point the system will be away from any land areas. We’re also keeping a close watch on INVEST 94L, the tropical disturbance near Hispaniola. 94L will very likely become a tropical storm and move northwest in the days ahead, potentially bringing impacts to South Carolina and North Carolina next week. Interests along the Atlantic coast of Florida, Georgia, and the Carolinas should closely monitor the progress of 94L this weekend.

TROPICS: GABRIELLE MOVING THROUGH THE AZORES… Hurricane Gabrielle continues the process of becoming extratropical across the northeast Atlantic Ocean. Gabrielle continues to bring impacts to the Azores islands that continue under a hurricane warning. Gabrielle will become fully extratropical soon and the final advisory will be issued on the system by the National Hurricane Center.
