FEW STORMS NEAR THE COAST THIS EVENING; MAINLY DRY, NICE WEEK AHEAD… Isolated storms will be possible this evening, mainly near the northwest Florida coast, with MOST communities across south Alabama and northwest Florida remaining dry throughout the day. High temperatures will be in the upper 80s this afternoon. Tomorrow will be quite similar to today with low-end rain chances. We will trend even drier later this week with seasonal temperatures. The Gulf will likely remain quiet all week long with no significant tropical activity expected.
TROPICS: ATLANTIC BASIN QUIET… The tropical wave we were tracking in the central Atlantic Ocean late last week into the first half of the weekend has dissipated. A combination of dry air and atmospheric shear ripped the system apart and it is no longer expected to develop into a named tropical storm. This means the Gulf, Caribbean, and Atlantic are quiet with NO named tropical storms expected to develop over the next 5-7 days. This is quite remarkable considering this week marks the climatological peak of the hurricane season.
TROPICS: HURRICANE KIKO TO PASS NORTH OF HAWAII… Hurricane Kiko, a small, compact hurricane located several hundred miles east-southeast of Hawaii, is moving northwest. The system is expected to miss the Hawaiian Islands just to the north by a few hundred miles. High waves are expected in Hawaii, due to Hurricane Kiko, over the next few days.
