SPOTTY STORMS TODAY, PARTICULARLY IN WEST ALABAMA… Scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible on this Thursday with the greatest rain chances happening in the western half of our local area in parts of Baldwin, Mobile, Monroe, Clarke, and Washington counties. A few showers and storms may happen further east but rain chances are greater over west Alabama and into southeast Mississippi. The greatest chance of rain today will happen in the afternoon and evening hours. High temperatures will be in the low 90s today.

SCATTERED STORMS THIS WEEKEND… This weekend will be quite seasonal for late July across the region. High temperatures will be in the low to mid 90s with heat index values in the 100-105° range each afternoon. Widely scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, mostly in the afternoon and evening hours.

HOTTER TEMPERATURES COMING NEXT WEEK… A ridge of high pressure builds in as we get into the upcoming week. That points to higher temperatures each day along with excessive humidity. High temperatures will be in the mid to upper 90s by the time we get to Tuesday and Wednesday. Heat index values are expected to be in excess of 105°. This will likely be the hottest week so far of 2026.

TROPICS: REMNANTS OF BERTHA MOVING WEST… Bertha, or what is left of the system, continues moving west across Louisiana and the western Gulf on this Thursday. Bertha made landfall yesterday afternoon as a tropical storm in eastern Louisiana.

TROPICS: REMAINDER OF ATLANTIC BASIN QUIET… The Caribbean Sea and Atlantic Ocean are not expected to support development of any new tropical storms today, tomorrow, over the weekend, or into early next week. The climatological peak of hurricane season happens on September 11. The 2026 Atlantic Hurricane Season will end on November 30.
