HOT, HUMID THURSDAY; LOW-END RAIN CHANCES TODAY… High temperatures will be in the mid 90s across much of the area on this Thursday with heat index values expected to be in the 100-105° range this afternoon. A few highly isolated showers and thunderstorms will be possible, but I expect the vast majority of communities across south Alabama and northwest Florida to remain dry today. Tomorrow will be quite similar to today with plenty of heat, plenty of humidity, and lower rain chances. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will increase in coverage as we get into the weekend and early next week.

P.M. STORMS TO INCREASE IN COVERAGE THIS WEEKEND… Showers and thunderstorms will likely increase in coverage on Independence Day Saturday into Sunday. I am not expecting “all day washout” conditions, but we will have spotty showers and thunderstorms around, mostly in the P.M. hours. Widespread severe storms are not expected, but as always with the pop-up, summer storms, expect cloud-to-ground lightning, loud thunder, and heavy pockets of rain at times. I will have radar updates posted throughout the weekend, as needed, in the RedZone Weather app.

SEASONAL PATTERN INTO NEXT WEEK… We’re entering into a consistent, summertime pattern next week with a chance of pop-up thunderstorms each day. That does NOT mean there won’t be sunshine mixed in (there absolutely will be!), aka do not cancel your beach plans because of weather! It is totally normal and totally expected to have pop–up showers and storms this time of year, most of which will happen in the P.M. hours each day. High temperatures will be in the 90s with morning lows in the 70s.

TROPICAL UPDATE… No tropical storms are expected to form over the next 5-7 days across the Gulf, Caribbean Sea, or Atlantic Ocean. The climatological peak of hurricane season happens on September 11. The 2026 Atlantic Hurricane Season will officially end on November 30.
