WINDY, WARM THURSDAY; STRONG STORMS POSSIBLE SUNDAY… Dry conditions are expected for the most part on this Thursday across south Alabama and northwest Florida. Windy conditions are likely today, particularly in the afternoon and early evening hours. High temperatures will be in the low 80s today. Tomorrow and Saturday will be quite similar to today with warm temperatures and breezy conditions. Our next chance of rain will happen late Saturday night into early Sunday. Strong to severe thunderstorms will be possible on Sunday as a cold front approaches from the northwest.

PATCHY FOG THIS MORNING… Dense fog is noted in some communities across the region this morning, particularly in places closer to the coast. This fog will burn off by 9-10AM. Please take it slow if you are driving this morning in foggy conditions.

PERSISTENT WEATHER PATTERN THRU SATURDAY… If you’re a fan of the warm days with windy afternoons, today, tomorrow, and Saturday will be for you! High temperatures will consistently be in the low to mid 80s through Saturday with morning lows in the mid to upper 60s. Mostly dry conditions are expected with only a very low-end chance of rain each day.

STRONG STORMS POSSIBLE SUNDAY… Strong to severe thunderstorms will approach our local area from the northwest on Saturday night into early Sunday morning. The Storm Prediction Center now includes all of south Alabama and northwest Florida in the Level 2 (out of 5) risk valid Saturday night through Sunday morning. Damaging wind gusts, a few tornadoes, and large hail will be the concerns in any of the thunderstorms that can become strong or severe. This is a system we will need to monitor carefully in the days ahead.

COOLER TEMPS EARLY NEXT WEEK… One of the reason we have a chance of severe storms on Sunday is because of a cold front approaching the region from the northwest. Behind this frontal boundary, cooler air is slated to filter into south Alabama and northwest Florida. High temperatures on Monday will be in the mid to upper 60s with lows in the 40s by Tuesday morning. Highs will rebound into the 70s by the middle of next week.
