BECOMING SUNNY TODAY; RAIN POSSIBLE AT TIMES SUNDAY INTO MONDAY… Skies will continue to gradually clear on this Friday with most of the local area likely to have mostly sunny conditions by the end of the day. High temperatures will be in the 60s across the region today ahead of temperatures closer to the 70 degree mark tomorrow afternoon. Overnight, many communities will again be in the 30s. Our next rain chance is slated to happen on Sunday into Monday as an area of low pressure moves by our region. For now, the overall risk of severe storms seems quite low.
COOL EVENING COMING UP; COLD TEMPS OVERNIGHT… Temperatures will peak in the 60s today but we will quickly fall into the 50s this evening. If you’re headed out for an evening event or perhaps a high school football game this evening, grab the jackets before you leave and keep them handy. Temperatures will be in the upper 40s to low 50s by 9PM.
HIGHS NEAR 70° ON SATURDAY WITH PLENTY OF SUNSHINE… Tomorrow is expected to be a beautiful weather day across south Alabama and northwest Florida. Highs will be around the 70 degree mark with mostly sunny skies throughout the day.
SHOWERS POSSIBLE AT TIMES SUNDAY AND MONDAY… Isolated showers and perhaps a few thunderstorms near the coast will become possible on Sunday into Monday. Rain chances on Sunday will probably peak in the evening hours. For now, no severe weather risk zone is in place across the local area as it appears most, if not all, of the surface-based instability will remain to our south in the northern Gulf. There is a bit of uncertainty with this and there is at least some chance we may have a low-end risk of a few strong storms near the immediate coast. This is something I will be monitoring carefully over the next few days. I will have updates posted as needed in the RedZone Weather app.
HURRICANE MELISSA ON THE WAY OUT… The core of Hurricane Melissa has now passed Bermuda in the Atlantic Ocean. Melissa will become an extratropical system over the next few days in the northern Atlantic. Elsewhere in the Atlantic Basin, including in the Gulf and in the Caribbean Sea, conditions are not expected to support the development of any new tropical storms over the weekend or into early next week.
