I was asked at a public event recently is our local area "overdue" for a major hurricane? (last MAJOR hurricane strikes locally were in 2004 and 2005 – Ivan and Dennis)
The answer: We are not "overdue" but we are getting close to the return period intervals for our area.… pic.twitter.com/qfLHShkxgj

13 NAMED STORMS THIS YEAR, SO FAR… Odds are increasing we may have seen the final named storm in the Atlantic Basin for the 2025 season (Melissa).
Still a chance for a named storm to happen through the end of the calendar year, but chances seem to be decreasing everyday.

SUNNY TUESDAY; SHOWERS POSSIBLE THIS WEEKEND… Sunny skies continue on this Tuesday. High temperatures will be a bit warmer than yesterday with most spots reaching the mid 70s by 3PM. Clear skies are expected tonight with overnight lows in the 40s across much of the region except by the immediate shores of the beaches and bays where low 50s are likely. More sunshine is expected tomorrow and Thursday with temperatures gradually moderating to the upper 70s for afternoon highs by Thursday afternoon. Our next chance of rain happens during the upcoming weekend.
NICE WEATHER CONTINUES THROUGH FRIDAY… Today, tomorrow, Thursday, and Friday will likely be dry days. Despite the fact that a cold front will be approaching the area on Friday, I think the daytime hours of Friday should be dry. Showers may happen after sunset on Friday.
TROPICS REMAIN QUIET; HURRICANE SEASON ENDS NOVEMBER 30… The Gulf, Caribbean Sea, and Atlantic Ocean are not expected to be supportive of any new tropical storms developing over the next 5-7 days. The official end of hurricane season happens on Sunday, November 30.

I compiled 12 Atlantic Category 5 hurricanes, including #MELISSA, into one satellite composite.
You can see how much size varies between storms, and just how massive Hurricane MELISSA was – its expansive cloud pattern similar to MATTHEW 2016. pic.twitter.com/IRVEEX97Ad
