RAIN TO CONTINUE OVERNIGHT; LOW-END RISK OF A FEW STRONG STORMS NEAR N.W. FLORIDA COAST… Who is thankful for the rain we are having tonight across the region?! I certainly am. Rain will continue into the overnight hours and clear out to the east early tomorrow morning. Before we get there, we may have a few stronger storms develop near the northwest Florida coast overnight. It isn’t a “slam dunk” that we will have any severe storms, but the risk is such that a tornado or two wouldn’t be completely surprising IF a warm front can reach the northwest Florida coast overnight, likely between 11PM and 5AM. To be clear: NO tornado risk exists further inland as the air is much more stable and cool. This is a limited risk that may not come to fruition at all. Most of us will simply have rain and general thunderstorms at times overnight.
If, by chance, we happen to have a tornado warning overnight, I will come on Facebook Live to bring you the very latest. I would put the odds of a tornado warning for any parts of our primary coverage area only at a 10-20% chance. That isn’t zero, but it isn’t much. IF tornado warnings become required, there is high confidence it would happen in parts of northwest Florida near the coast.
