A NOTE ABOUT THE TORNADO WARNING AT EGLIN TODAY… This issue has come up multiple times over the years. It is my understanding that Eglin Air Force Base issues their own weather warnings that are disseminated to military members and families. Eglin chose to issue one of their internal tornado warnings today.
This is a totally different system than the National Weather Service warnings that are the industry standard. To be clear, there WAS a severe thunderstorm warning and a flash flood warning today for portions of southern Okaloosa County that were issued by the local National Weather Service office. There was never a tornado warning issued by @NWSMobile for ANY local county today, however, nor did I see any signatures that warranted a tornado warning.
I “go live” across social media platforms whenever a tornado warning is in effect. Our policy includes Okaloosa County.
