MOSTLY SUNNY & DRY CONDITIONS THROUGH THE WEEKEND… Skies will remain mostly sunny today, on Friday, and into the upcoming weekend. High temperatures will be in the low 90s today. Dry conditions are expected to persist through the weekend and into early next week. Unfortunately, temperatures will trend toward the mid 90s as we get into Monday and Tuesday of the upcoming week. Drought conditions are expected to worsen across all of south Alabama and northwest Florida in the weeks ahead.
TROPICS: 20-30% CHANCE OF DEVELOPMENT IN ATLANTIC… A tropical wave, currently moving westward over central Africa, has a 20-30% chance of becoming a named tropical storm once the system moves off of the western coast of Africa into the eastern Atlantic Ocean. This system is 12+ days from any direct North America impacts and there is no guarantee it will make it all the way across the Atlantic. Most of the early model guidance shows the system recurving northward into the Atlantic. Too early to know exactly where this system will end up.
TROPICS: GULF & CARIBBEAN REMAIN QUIET… The Gulf and Caribbean Sea remain quiet with no new tropical storms expected to develop over the next 5-7 days. The 2025 Atlantic Hurricane Season will end on November 30.
REMEMBERING THOSE WE LOST ON SEPTEMBER 11, 2001… Today we pause and remember all of the people we lost 24 years ago on September 11, 2001 in the worst terrorist attacks in U.S. history. I was a 4th grader at Brewton Elementary School and will never forget that day. Our prayers are with all of the families affected by the attacks on that day – 24 years ago today.
